conversations in moonlight. an explanation follows...

Almost always, the first question I am asked after I am introduced to anyone is, "Kaumudi is such a unique name. What does it mean? (And how would you like to be called Susan instead.. just one guy had the nerve to say that)"
I am never annoyed by this querry, I quite like my name. It means moonlight and it's a Sanskrit name. Some history buffs may remember the journal started by Rabindranath Tagore called Samvad Kaumudi (which is a direct translation of the title of this blog into Sanskrit). Apparently its quite a common name for news websites covering news from South India.. the things you discover by Google'ing your name!!
Being blessed with such a unique name, I thank my stars I'm not some Pooja, or Aarti, or Neha. I take a genuine interest in other people's names too... mostly Sanskrit though.
